NORTON, VA.                                                  JUNE 29, 2021

Evelyn Sergent Powers, 91, entered her heavenly reward on Monday, June 28, 2021 at the Mountain View Regional Hospital in Norton, VA.

She enjoyed working with and helping people in various employment settings including, Park Avenue Hospital Pic-n-Pay Shoes and Avon. She enjoyed a caregiving role and serving people in her later years. The crowning joy in her life was being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Her greatest privilege and lasting spiritual legacy was praying for those she loved.

She was a member of Glamorgan Chapel in Wise, VA.

She was preceded in death by her late husbands, Rev. David D. Powers and Willard Harold Sergent; and a brother, Carlos Hamilton and wife Cynthia.

Surviving are two sons, Marty Sergent and wife Debra and Greg Sergent and wife Teresa; grandsons, Shaun Sergent and wife Donna, Aaron Sergent and wife Heather, Adrian Sergent and wife Hollie, and Andrew Sergent and wife Katy; granddaughter, Rachel Sergent and fiance' Andrew Bledsoe; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Sareena, Savannah, Cameron, Madison, Brey, Brody, Brie, Isaac and Ellie; brother, Nathaniel Hamilton and wife Lena; wonderful nieces and nephews; a very special family friend and prayer partner, Betty Beverly; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Deepest appreciation for the caring staff on the 4 ^th floor of Mountain View Regional Medical Center, where she was a resident.

Funeral services for Evelyn Sergent Powers will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, July 1, 2021 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Rev. Jeff Sams and Rev. Ed Slemp officiating. Burial will follow in the Wells Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. till time of services at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, July 1, 2021 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
