Evelyn Collins, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN.

She was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong resident of Wise County, VA. She was retired from the Buster Brown Garment Factory in Coeburn, VA. Evelyn was a homemaker, cook, seamstress and gardener. She loved to quilt and took pride in having made a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. She loved being outside in warm weather and she loved mowing her grass and caring for her lawn. More than anything she loved having her family visit with her.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Clarence; an infant son, Clarence, Jr.; her parents, Kathleen and David Powers; brothers, Morrison Powers and Luther Powers and beloved sister, Marie Mullins.
Surviving are her children, Faye Collier and husband Ernie of McRoberts, KY, Dennis Collins and wife Brenda of Wise, VA, Larry Collins and wife Melissa of Nealy Ridge, VA and Joleada (Jody) Lewis of Wesley Chapel, FL; grandchildren, Susan Freeman and husband Justin of Kingsport, TN, Jordan Collier of Richmond, KY, Brittany Barlow and husband Andrew of Kingsport, TN, Ashley Bowen of Nealy Ridge, VA, Kaitlyn Lewis and husband Chase of McRoberts, KY, Kevin Collier of Richmond, KY, Ashlee Lewis and fiancée Michael Stubblefield of Big Stone Gap, VA, Jeffrey Bowen of Nealy Ridge, VA and Madyson Lewis of Oxford, MS; great-grandchildren, Mason Craft, Ryder Freeman, Hadley Freeman, Adrianne Hunt, Hudson Barlow, Selena Lewis, Barrett Lewis, Ava Barlow and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Evelyn Collins will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Jason Green and Pastor Jeff Reynolds officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. on Friday at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise. Graveside committal services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, VA. Burial will follow. Family and friends will meet at 10:10 A.M. at the funeral home to go to the cemetery in procession.
