Obituary

Coeburn, Virginia                                                       January 12, 2023

Esther Porter went to join her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven early on the morning of January 11, 2023. She went to bed on Earth and woke up in Heaven, passing peacefully after a very short illness. After giving her heart to the Lord in 1975, Esther spent many fruitful years serving His Kingdom with her husband Michael Porter, Sr. Their personal examples and love of God ministered to thousands throughout their lifetime. Esther's life was filled with her love of God, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Born in South Porcupine, Ontario, Canada, Esther later moved to Sault Ste. Marie where she met and married Michael Porter. Esther worked as a bookkeeper until she married and had her children. She was a lifelong member of Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle in the "Soo" where she served as a dedicated member and Custodian until the death of her husband. She has spent her most recent years living with her son his family in Virginia. Esther was known for the prayer squares in her homemade afghans. She would pray over the squares as she crocheted them. Many people have been covered by her prayer afghans from all over the world. Our memories of Esther and "Mom" will be cherished until we see her again.

Family members celebrating her new birth into Heaven include her son, Michael and his wife, Nadine; daughter Jo-Anne Randall and her husband, John; grandchildren Devin Apland and her husband, Kaleb, Glenda, Michael; and great-grandchildren Klara Jolene, Allison (Allie) Michelle, Theodore (Theo) Michael and Finnean (Finn) Kenneth. She is survived by her sister Jo-Anne Jelly in New Liskeard, Ontario.

A private memorial service will be held in the spring. We'll see you soon, Mom.
