Ernest "Tubby" Lee Campbell, 78, went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2022. Ernest was retired from Y&Y after 30 years in the Coal Mines and served in the U.S. Army. He was born to the late Tom & Lila Campbell and raised by Ma Nickles, along with his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by his two brothers, Kenneth, and Roy Campbell, and his father & mother-in-law, Robert (Ted) & Virginia Castle, and two brothers-in-law, Boyd & Lloyd Castle.

Surviving is his wife, Betty Castle Campbell, three sons, Anthony (Regina) Campbell, Brad (Brandy) Barnette, and Robert (Stacy) Barnette; eight grandchildren, Kateland (Tim) Adkins, Katherine (Kalona) Campbell, A.J. (Mahala) Campbell, Jordan (Jaida) Campbell, Logan Hayes, Conner Dingus, Elissa Mullins, and Eli Mullins; six great grandchildren, Destiny & Dakota Adkins, Jamie, Emma, and John Campbell, and Willow Campbell; four brothers, Reggie (Rebecca) Campbell, Terry (Barb) Campbell, Charlie (Mary) Campbell, and Butch (Cathy) Campbell; four sisters, Linda (Dave) Pilkenton, Brenda (Mike) Taylor, Debbie Campbell, and Cathy (Terry) Rose; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 2, 2022, 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6 ^th Street NW Coeburn, VA. Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Rev. R.L. Crawford officiating. Graveside Service will be conducted 11 A.M. Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at the Greenwood Acres Cemetery Coeburn, VA. The family and friends will meet at 10:15 A.M. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
