Eddie Dean O'Quinn, 69, of Haysi, VA saddled his horse one last time and rode to heaven on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

He was a loving devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cowboy, and friend. Dean was a proud veteran with a life-long career in both coal and long haul trucking, until retiring to follow his passion of horses.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Edna O'Quinn; and two brothers, Jimmy O'Quinn and Tommy O'Quinn.

Surviving are his daughters, Jillian (Jamie) Evans of Gray, TN and Melinda (Thomas) Miller of Cassatt, SC; his son, Stephen O'Quinn; seven grandchildren, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Sidney, Ashley (Tyler), Amber (Colton), Andrew and Alysa (Kalen); three great-grandchildren, Maddie, Mason, and Livvy; sisters, Joyce O'Quinn and Janet (Greg) Fuller; brothers, Ronnie (Linda), Rocky (Rita), and Jeff Petro; and a multitude of loving family and friends.

Visitation for Eddie Dean O'Quinn will be held from 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
