Dwight H. Stallard, 72, of Coeburn, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025. He was born on March 2, 1953, to Landrith V. and Lois Bise Stallard, who preceded him in death.  Dwight graduated from Coeburn High School in 1971 and went on to earn his degree in Forestry from Virginia Tech in 1979, marking the beginning of a fulfilling career.

Dwight dedicated over 30 years of his life to the Virginia Department of Forestry, where he made significant contributions to his community and the environment. After retirement in 2015, Dwight moved back home where he was living his life to the fullest, spending his free time hiking, traveling, hunting and enjoying nature. His love for the outdoors was surpassed only by his affection for his family. Dwight could always be found playing and engaging with the children at family gatherings, bringing joy and laughter wherever he went.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Stallard; his brother, Larry Stallard; and his stepson, Billy Kyle. Dwight leaves behind a loving family, including his sister, Sheila (Rick) Ricketts; stepson, Charlie (Aline) Hedgepeth; special grandsons, Michael (Kirby) Kyle and Matthew Hedgepeth, honorary grandson, Jake Herndon; granddaughters, Savannah and Sequoia Hedgepeth; as well as his nephew, Jason Ricketts; niece, Courtney (Brad) Ratliff; great-nieces, Haley Ricketts and Kiley Ratliff, and great-nephews, Jake and Kolt Ricketts.

In addition to his family, Dwight cherished his close friends Glynn, Greg, and Tammy, who shared his adventures and memories.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Health Wagon, UVA Medical Center, Encompass Rehabilitation Center and Caris Healthcare for their exceptional care and compassion.

Dwight will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the lifelong memories he created with those he loved.
