Charles Dudley McCoy, 76, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in the Lee County Community Hospital Pennington Gap, Virginia. Dudley was the son of the late Finis & Pauline McCoy. He was preceded in death by his son, Travis Scott McCoy. Dudley passing left a legacy of dedication, compassion and excellence in education. He was a dedicated teacher for 40 years and was employed by the Russell County School System.

Dudley attended LMU in Harrogate, Tennessee, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He had a passion for Reading as he had for his students, was a Mentor and Advocate for learning.

Surviving is his wife, Linda Kay McCoy of 50 years; a brother, Dr. Jim McCoy; sister, Ann Barrett; a niece, Kathy James; nephew Kevin McCoy; many other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 25, 2026, 12 P.M. to 1 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn, Va. Funeral Services will follow in the chapel with Pastor Joe Glen Sluss officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Acres Cemetery Coeburn, Va.
