POUND, VA.                                             May 13, 2022

Douglas E. Stephens, 71, passed away unexpectedly while visiting his sister on Thursday, May 12, 2022.

He was a resident of Pound VA, a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, an over the road truck driver, he had a big personality with an even bigger heart and was well known as the kind of person willing to help anyone in the area.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Delphia M. Adkins and his father, William Stephens of Hammond KY; his stepfather, L.C. Mobley who also raised him; his siblings, Donald Stewart, Bonnie McFalls, June Wilder, Bobby Jo Mobley, Howard Stewart, Katie Mobley, Betty Adams and Charles Adams; step daughter, Lisa R. Campbell.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Lena M. Stephens (Mommy); sister, Reba K. Stanley  of Wise, VA.; brother, James C. Mobley of Dean KY.; children, Crystal G. Stone of Baker, LA., Tamara J. Wheeler (Baby Girl) of Waterford MI., Kaye Johnson of Fleming Neon, KY.; stepchildren, James L. Campbell of Dayton OH and Amanda R. Powell of OH.; four adopted children, Michael Campbell, Constance Stephens, William Stephens and Cameron Stephens; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a host of other friends who were like family to him and many who he called his other children.

Funeral services for Douglas Stephens will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 16, 2022 at Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel Wise, VA with Pastor Danny Quillen officiating. Burial will follow at the Whitaker Cemetery in KY.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. till time of services at 2:00 P.M. on Monday at the Sturgill Funeral Home Wise, VA. Graveside committal services will follow with military rites. A gathering will be held at the Legion in Neon KY after the burial.
