WISE, VA.                                    APRIL 19, 2023

Donald Charles Stewart Henry, known to so many as Donnie or Mr. Henry of Camp Bethel in Wise, VA went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Holston Valley Medical Center after a sudden illness.

He just turned 70 years old but worked like he was still in his 40's and loving life.

He was an amazing man, husband, and father.  He was a prayer warrior that most people looked up to and strived to be like and he truly had a servant's heart.  Nothing would light up his eyes like the love he had for his grandchildren.  He loved spending time with them and teaching them all he knew.  He loved nothing more than going on adventures and hikes with the love of his life, especially their annual red bud ride.  He touched the lives of many through his ministry at Camp Bethel and teaching band and choral at Ervinton and schools in Dickenson County, Norton, UVA Wise and Wise County Christian School.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Mary Henry; his brothers, Jack, Sam and his special friend and baby brother, Tommy.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Cheryl; his four children, son, Matthew (Tabitha), daughter, Stacey (Jarred), son, Nicholas (Megan), daughter, Kyrsten (Patrick).  He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and pride and joy, Benjamin, Evan, Harper, Mallory, Aiden, Caleb, Ava, and Marley; his brothers, Phil and Tony; sisters, Mary Jeanne, Lois, and Susan; sisters in love, Joyce Henry and Trudy Mathewson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony at Glamorgan Chapel (across from Lowes) at 6:00 PM on Friday April 21, 2023.  Those planning to attend the Celebration of Life Ceremony may dress in orange or Tennessee apparel in honor of his love for the Tennessee Vols.
