Dollie Rose, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, in Duffield, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Bill & Delma Yates and was born in Haysi, Virginia. Dollie was one of 18 children. She attended Davis Chapel Church and was proud to be saved by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Dollie had a strong passion for quilting, gardening, and cooking. Dollie's passion for quilting was evident in every stitch she made. Her quilts were not just beautiful works of art; they were woven with stories and memories that she shared with family and friends.  She often gifted these handmade treasures to her children and grandchildren as tokens of affection—each quilt serving as a comforting embrace during difficult times.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Billy Rose, and several brothers and sisters.

Dollie's legacy lives on through her loving family members who survive her: Two sons, Jerry (Marica) Rose and Bobby (Anna Lou) Rose; a brother Cain Yates; sisters Rena Fuller, Virtie Fuller, Rose Mullins, Itley Mullins, and Armindy McCowan; four grandchildren, April (Jay) Rose, Brandon Rose, Brian (Christy) Nixon, and Heather (David) Long; four great grandchildren, Conor, Sicily, Beau, and Brody; several nieces and nephews. They carry forward not only their fond memories but also the values she instilled within them—kindness towards others and appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dollie's caregivers: Megan Stallard, Diane Vaughn, Wanda Kiser, and Shirley Burke. Their unwavering support provided comfort during challenging times. Their compassion allowed Dollie's life to be filled with dignity surrounded by love at home. A special thank you to her neighbors, Kevin & Regina Large, for all their kindness and care. The family would also like to thank the employees at Ridgecrest Manor for the support and care that they showed Dollie and her family. Their care, patience, and empathy made an incredibly difficult time a little easier to bear.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 20, 2024, 12:30 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn, Va. Funeral Service will follow at 2 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Johnny Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Acres Cemetery Coeburn, Va.
