Desilvia Joan "Joann" Meade, 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She attended the Church of Christ.

Joann was preceded in death by her daughter, Malinda Mays; a grandson, Stephen Gregory Mays; her parents, Oliver Winfield and Ida Malinda Ford Powers; her brother, Francis Gary Powers and a sister Lujean Goff.

Surviving are her loving husband of over 70 years, Walton Meade; her children, Robert Meade and wife Kathy, Diane Hall and husband E.R., Zena Meade, Francene Meade, Toni Meade, John Meade and wife Lynn, Joe Meade and wife Erica; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice Melvin, Jessica Hileman and Joyce Stallard and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Joann Meade will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Minister E.R. Hall Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the James A. Powers Cemetery in Pound, VA. Family will receive friends from 12:00 noon till time of services at 2:00 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
