Dennis "Slick" Slade Owens, 72, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at his home.

He worked for Barnette Contractors for over 40 years.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on his hot rod, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Swanson Owens and Gaynell McFadden Owens; and brothers, Jody Ray Owens and Gary Allen Owens.

Surviving are his daughters, Angela Owens and Heather R. Owens; mother of his children, Donna Barnette Owens; grandchildren, Alexis Gibson and husband Tony, Brandon Ely, Brian Owens, Kristen Owens, Kevin Olinger, Robert Ely and Brittany Owens; great-grandchildren, Leon Owens, Lexton Gibson, Paityn Addair and Arianna Burton; brothers, Randy Owens and Danny Owens; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Dennis Owens will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 29, 2024 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Jeff Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, VA. Family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. till time of services at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 29, 2024 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
