Deborah Fleenor, 68, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 8, 2026 peacefully in her home in Wise, VA.

Debbie loved the Lord, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Big Stone Gap, VA.

She had many hobbies that she loved doing, including kayaking, working in her garden, going to Dollywood and anything involving the outdoors. She loved more than anything to spend time with family, including her work family at Pikeville Medical Center.

Debbie served as a Registered nurse for 32 years doing what she does best, serving and helping others. She always went above and beyond for her patients when it came to caring for them. She not only cared and provided for her patients, but she loved to pray with them and for them.

Debbie was proceeded in death by her mother, Hattie McCray and father, Junior McCray; her brother, Roger McCray; sister, Lana Gail Lawless; her two beloved children, son, Richard Pilkenton and daughter, Melissa Shephard; and her husband, Carl Fleenor.

She is survived by her daughter, Feleceshia Stephens-Sturgill and her husband Tracy Sturgill; her daughter, Renee Blanton and her husband Bobby Blanton; her son, David Pilkenton and his wife Kimberly Pilkenton; her son, John Pilkenton and his wife Shenna Pilkenton; her brothers, Rick McCray and his wife Marsha McCray, and Dennis McCray and his wife Theresa McCray; Debbie had 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many cousins and friends.

She will be greatly missed by all those that had the pleasure of knowing her especially by us that called her Mom!

Funeral services for Deborah Fleenor will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Bryan Gunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. till time of services at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
