Darrell Freeman, 69, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

Darrell was of the Christian Faith and was retired from Paramount Mining.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay Freeman and Clara Bailey; brother, Harold Freeman; nephew, Jeffrey Bullion; and his other dad, Billy Bullion.

Surviving are his daughters, Rebecca Haney (Heath) and Crystal Ricketts (David); sons, Darren Freeman (Felicia) and Brett Freeman (Mia); brothers, Eddie Freeman (Cindy) and Joe Freeman (Doloris); eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; niece, Lisa Johnson; nephew, Randy Bullion; special friends, Mark Caldwell, Jeff Petro, and Jeff Franklin; the matriarch of the family and the woman who raised him, Velma Bullion; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Darrell Freeman will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Donald Harding III officiating. Burial will follow in the Collins-Gilliam Cemetery in Wise, VA. Family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. till time of services at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
