Danny
Belcher
d. Nov 16, 2024
WISE, VA. NOVEMBER 17, 2024
Danny Willard Belcher, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
He was born in Mullens, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Ted Belcher and Sadah Steele. Danny graduated from Mullens High School and shortly after was drafted into the Navy. After his time in the Navy, he moved to Wise, Virginia where he has called home since 1982.
Danny was an extremely proud father – he spent countless hours on the little league field with his son and on the tennis courts with his daughter. He always supported them and their teams. He never missed a game or match. Danny was a lifelong hunter and enjoyed many trips out west to Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, and Alaska. He loved telling hunting stories (or any story) with some of his proudest moments being when he killed an 18-point buck and bringing home a grizzly bear along with a caribou from Alaska. He cherished finding a good hunting spot and taking his friends along. While hunting was his passion, he also absolutely loved the restaurant that he helped start in Wise in 1982, Roma's Pizzeria. When he wasn't on hunting trips, you could find him sitting in the office at Roma's enjoying a cup of coffee, cooking in the kitchen, making dough, or sitting at table 1. He truly poured his heart and soul into the restaurant. He always loved supporting the local sports teams and businesses – inviting them in for pizza parties. Danny had the biggest heart and was an incredibly giving person – always thought of others first before himself. Danny is proceeded in death by his parents and his dear friend, Larry Boggs.
Danny will be dearly missed by his children, Natasha Holt (Keith) of Blacksburg, Forrest Belcher (Kelly) of Roanoke; and his grandchildren, (Easton Holt, Savena Holt, Cole Belcher, Blake Belcher, Roman Belcher, Evelyn Belcher). He loved watching his grandchildren grow up, catching a game when he could, and always spoiling them with loads of gifts. He is also survived by three brothers, (Jason Steele, Bubby Steele and wife Amanda, David Belcher and wife Karen); two sisters, (Sandy Raso and husband Darryl, Tammy Saunders and husband Terry); and a sea of Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He also dearly loved his hunting buddies Charlie Parsons, Doug Carico, and Brian Boggs. Danny's restaurant family (Marina Edwards, Tina Cooke and families) were a huge part of his life and he was incredibly grateful for them. He always spoke so highly of the community of Wise who always supported him and his local business. He truly loved the town of Wise and everything they did to support his restaurant.
