The Lord is near to the broken hearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Danny Neil Addington, 65, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at his home.

He was born in Jenkins, KY to Rev. Lloyd D. Addington and Ruby Adams Addington and lived most of his life in Pound, VA. He was of the Freewill Baptist faith. Dan was a hard worker and was still employed with Alpha Metallurgical Resources at the time of his death. Dan had a giving heart and was always there for anyone who needed him. He was truly loved by all his family, friends and co-workers and was always lending a helping hand no matter how difficult the job was. He was a problem solver, loved woodworking and motorcycles.

We know how broken hearted he was with the loss of Diane. We feel that pain now, losing him. His pain is no more. His heart is renewed. He is smiling down on the ones he left to grieve for him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Diane Stanley Addington and his parents, Rev. Lloyd D. Addington and Ruby Adams Addington.

Surviving are his two children, Damien Neil Addington of Norton, VA and Alicia Addington Marshall of Pound, VA; two precious granddaughters, Ciara Addington and Phoenix Marshall; sisters, Carolyn Ellison (Milton) of Wise, VA, Katie Adams (Ronnie) of Jenkins, KY, Donna Johnson (Carlos) of Dandridge, TN, Sharon Dixon of Winchester, KY, Theda Vanover of Big Stone Gap, VA, Nancy Boggs (Roy) of Bean Station, TN and Anita Jane Carlton of Big Stone Gap, VA; two brothers, Lloyd (Gus) Addington (Tammy) of Dobson, NC and Joe Eddie Addington (Tina) of Pound, VA; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Danny Addington will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel, Wise, VA with Elder Danny Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Stanley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. till time of services at 4:00 P.M. at Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
