Daniel Carter Mullins, 52, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 12, 2025 after a short battle with a brain tumor.

He was a member of Freedom of Worship Church in Norton, VA and a member of Wise First Church of God in Wise, VA.

He was a retired employee from Wallens Ridge State Prison and currently employed at Ballad Health System.

Daniel loved his family and friends. He enjoyed cooking for his family and traveling and making memories. To his family he was always the "fixer" and the safety coordinator. He loved cheering on the Vols with his wife.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Diana Carter Mullins; and his sister, Rebecca Mullins Fannon.

Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Whitney Boggs Mullins; his son, Taylor Mullins; daughter, Kylee Mullins; father, Danny Mullins and wife Kay; father-in-law, Michael Boggs and wife Nila; mother-in-law, Teresa Scott Boggs and Michael Wampler; nephew, Justice Fannon; niece, Shelbie Fannon; special parents, Kenny and Peggy Bowling; his precious fur babies, Jet and Vader; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend many thanks to the team at Ballad Health Cancer Center.

Honor Guard Ceremony for Daniel Mullins will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA. Funeral services will follow with Pastor Scott Addison and Pastor Robert Fultz, Jr. officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 19, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA to prepare for graveside services at the Scott Family Cemetery in Norton, VA. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to Southwest Virginia Cancer Center Patient Assistance Fund - 671 HWY 58 East, Norton, VA 24273.
