Daniel Sayers Graybeal, 88, of Coeburn, Virginia went home to Jesus on January 22, 2024.
He was born in Amonate, Virginia, graduated from Coeburn High School, and was a member of the first graduating class at Clinch Valley College (presently, UVA Wise). Daniel retired from the U.S. Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) where he worked as a coal mining systems safety inspector. He experienced many roles during his life: architect (designed the expansion and front facade of the Norton Kentucky Avenue Church of God), Sunday School teacher, church choir director and soloist, author of the newspaper serial The Legend of Swift's Silver Mine (an eleven part historical series published in the Bristol Herald Courier), author of two books (Bible Trinities and End Time Prophecies), Boy Scout troop leader, and instructor of electrical safety at MSHA's training academy in Beckley, West Virginia. He was a member of Zion Family Ministries (Assemblies of God) in Wise, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Sayers Graybeal, his mother, Ann Ruble Mae McAmis Graybeal, and brother James David Graybeal. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Sheila; sister Nancy Redman; children Gary Graybeal (Cathy), Patty Graybeal (Franco Facchini), Mark Salyer, Missy Hall (Garland), Amber Foster (Kelly); eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be conducted 2 P.M. Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the Zion Family Ministries with Pastor Wayne Hager officiating. Burial will be Private. In Lieu of Flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Family Ministries Building Fund 1613 Norton Road Wise, VA. 24293.
