Dakota Scott Collins, 31, passed away October 16, 2025 unexpectedly, While doing one of the things he loved most, riding his motorcycle with a beloved friend.

Dakota was a loving fiancé and dad to his three children. He was a long-term employee for the Crew 6 Honey Badgers at Halliburton and loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to spend his time hiking, kayaking, and fishing. Always happy to pack up and go on adventure at the drop of a hat. Known to many as the best hunting buddy and was also a self-proclaimed 'professional armadillo killer'. His smile and humor will be a part of everyone's memories for years to come.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Barry Collins and Brenda Matheison-Collins; grandparents, Sherri and Bill Collins of Coeburn, Va; and his prized possession, his 2023 Honda Rebel CMX1100.

He is survived by his fiancé, Jalie Ward; three children, Kaleigh Ward, Klyde Collins, and Kori Collins of Wise, Va; brother, Jason Matheison (Jessica Stallard) of Johnson City, TN; maternal grandmother, Wilma Matheison of Norton, Va; niece, Macie Matheison of Norton, Va; many loved aunts and cousins; and lots of great, close friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 20, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, Va. A private Celebration of Life will happen at a later date.
