Curtis (Jerry) Martin, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport Tennessee, with his wife and daughter at his side.

He was born in Norton Virgina. He moved to Michigan in 1969 and lived there until 2019 at which time he moved back to Virgina.

He retired from General Motors in 2009 with more than 30 years of service.

He attended the Lighthouse Family Worship Center in Wise.

He loved his family and church family. He enjoyed life and showing his 1957 Chevy in many car shows in which he received many trophies with his beautiful car. He also loved riding their side-by-side with his wife on trails in Virgina, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Gladys Martin; sister, Joyce Mullins; and brothers, Buford, Bruce, and Ed, Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Brigid Martin; Daughters and Son-in-laws, Lanetta (Daryl) Little, Michelle (David) McCallum, and Keisha (Seth) Johnson; Grandchildren, Jason (Jacquelyn) Smith, Cody Morris, Austin Giles, Hunter Morris, Aubrey, Riley, Hayden, and Callie Johnson; Great-Grandchildren, Ayleah Smith, Ayriah Smith, Kaley Morris, Dax Smith, Vincent Giles, and Maliyah Morris. He is also survived by "Daddy's Boy" Leo.

To his Michigan grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was "Papaw" and to his Virgina grandchildren he was "Cherry".

Funeral services for Curtis Jerry Martin will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Roger Barker and Pastor Nathaniel Maggard officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Graveside committal services and burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 21, 2026 in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, VA. Family and friends will meet at 12:15 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home to go to the cemetery in procession.
