Cruce Douglas Davis, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 19, 2024, at home.

He was the son of the late Lee Milburn, "John Henry," Davis and Desta Victoria Yates, Davis.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Ova and Carrie Lee Davis, Mary Goodson and husband Don, Mable Powers and husband L. D., Aileen Senter and husband Harry, and a brother, William McKinley Davis and wife Joan. A great-grandchild Henry Aaron Belcher.

He is survived by wife of 60 years, Linda Carol, a son, Douglas and wife Amy, daughters Mychelle Stanley and husband Robert, and Kiana Craft and husband Matt. Three grandchildren, Kierston Belcher, Hunter and Sydney Davis as well as six great grandchildren, Harrison, Mackenzie and Aiden, Belcher, Hadley, Matthew, Xavier Craft. He and Cathy, a niece, would talk for hours about family history and events. He had several nieces, nephews and many friends that will miss him.

He attended Trace Fork School and Clintwood High School. He worked many different jobs in his lifetime. A service station attendant, coal truck driver, mechanic, strip miner, foreman and last but not least a Wise County bus driver. It was said that you could set your clock by his bus run. Whatever the job, he enjoyed it.

He loved bluegrass music and watching the Center Stage Clogger when he volunteered at Lay's Hardware. He was part of the breakfast club at Hardee's where the group swapped stories about grand kids and past events.

He was a member of Davis Chapel Freewill Baptist Church where he attended faithfully on Sunday and bible study on Wednesday evening until health problems prevented his attendance. He enjoyed going to church and studying the Bible.

If anyone wanted to know about a relative or neighbor of the past or present or that lived in the area or a picture, his name came up. He collected pictures of family and church members and many are on display in the Fellowship Hall at Davis Chapel.
