WISE, VA   August 23, 2026                 

Rev. Clyde Addington, 85, went to be with the Lord after a brief illness surrounded by his family on Friday, August 21, 2026 at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born in Wise, Virginia to the late Charlie and Doshia Addington.  He was a devoted husband, father “pappaw” and pastor. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Homer, Frank Herbert (Madylon), and Robert; sister, Betty Hill (Johnny), 

Surviving is his loving wife of 63 years Judy Addington; sons, Charles (Chuck) and wife Angie of Norton, Va and Joey and wife Chrissy of Wise, Va; daughter, Becky Whited and husband Dell of Wise, Va; grandchildren, Nikitia Gobble (Timothy), Dustin Addington (Clancy), Gavin Addington, Cassandra Stanley (Chris), Allison Whited (Tony), Jason Whited, Naz Whited, Cameron Whited, Camron Whited, Emma Laughary (Shawn), Calvin Whited, Matt Whited, Bryan Whited, Maddie Whited (Caleb), Sam Whited, Chance Whited and his littlest “punkin” Iris Whited; great grandchildren, Keira Boggs (Declan), West Addington, Hannah Stanley and Jerimiah Stanley, brother, Thomas and wife Wanda, sisters-in-laws, Wanda Addington and Evelyn Addington along with a host of other relatives and friends.

He was a coal miner for than half his life, he loved his farm, cattle and was well known as a butcher for many years at Addington Meats where he met many deer hunters who became family through the years.  He was a devoted Christian beginning his service as Assistant Pastor at Guest River Pentecostal Church, later accepting his calling to pastor at Louellen Pentecostal Church in Clospint, Ky where he served the Lord for 46 years along with his loving church family. He loved and cherished every moment spent with his family and friends. 

Funeral services for Rev. Clyde Addington will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA with Rev. Ronnie Boggs officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM till time of services at 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Graveside committal services will be held at 11:00 AM August 26, 2026 at the Addington-Hensley Cemetery on Rocky Fork. Burial will follow. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home to go to the cemetery in procession.
