Clara Mae Plowman Lipps, 90, proud wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at The Laurels in Norton, Virginia.

She was born in Seco, Kentucky and was the daughter of Barney and Nancy Combs Plowman.

Her family moved to Wise when she was 6. She graduated from Wise High School in 1954 and was the 2nd student enrolled at CVC now UVA-Wise.

She spent her life making a home for her husband, James C. Lipps, Jr., they were married for 64 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Lipps, Jr.; parents, Barney and Nancy Plowman; her brother, Barney Gene Plowman; her sister, Barbara Plowman Collins; and her grandson, Michael Jeremy Lipps.

Surviving are her two sons, Kenneth Wade Lipps of Uncasville, CT and Michael Joe Lipps and wife Linda of Wise, VA; granddaughter, Lindsay Lipps and partner Jeremy Gilliam of Maryville, TN; grandson, Shawn Lipps; great-grandson, Jayden Lipps; great-granddaughter, Alyssa Lipps, all of Uncasville, CT; and a host of other relatives and friends.
