Christopher Carl Sturgill, 59, passed away unexpectedly June 13, 2023 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Chris was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Ruth Barker and Ruth B. Sturgill of Pound, Virginia, his father, E. Carl Sturgill and Lucy Sturgill, his wife, mother to their son Christopher, and lifelong companion.

Chris is survived by his mother, Nancy Sturgill of Wise; two sons, Christopher (Aela) of Oswego, NY, Dalton Lee Sturgill, Wise and step-children, Zach Hughes, Land O Lakes, FL and Brandi Hughes of Greensboro, NC; one brother, Kevin (Krystal) Sturgill; three sisters, Kimberly Deur, Kelli Sturgill Hall (Paul) of Wise and Cari Sturgill Braddock (Jack Mooney) of Norton, VA as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Chris was employed at The Foundry in Kingsport, TN before relocating to North Carolina. Returning to Virginia years later, Chris worked for A & G Coal for many years.

He was a loving father, son and brother.   He had an amazing sense of humor and a heart of gold. He loved his family and was not shy about saying I love you. An extremely hard worker, Chris was a friend to all he met and was a blessing to his family and neighbors. Chris gave in death, as he gave in life. He was an organ and tissue donor. His gifts will live on and as his family grieves, others will celebrate life.
