Charlie Lee Newman, 82, passed from this life on Friday, March 10, 2023.

He was born in the Glamorgan section of Wise, VA to George Calvin and Audrey Mae (Jenkins) Newman.

He was retired Sergeant Major of the United States Army and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and will forever be in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Frieda; his parents; three brothers, Larry, Jack and Jimmy and one sister, Carolyn.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sandra Richmond and husband James of Statesville, NC and Dana Visser and husband Gary of Ada, MN; son, Christopher Newman of Norton, VA; five grandchildren, Audrey Donarski and husband Nick, Hunter Richmond, Samuel Visser, Gavin Newman and Grace Visser; one brother, Roger Newman of Aberdeen, OH; one sister, Peggy Bosley and husband Jim of Moses Lake, WA; one sister-in-law, Mary Newman of Dunham, KY and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 12:30 P.M. Wednesday, March 29, 2023 in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery 2501 North Dixie Boulevard Radcliff, KY 40160
