Charlie B. Gibson, 64, entered Heaven's gates on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.

CB was a retired coal miner of 40 years and his career ranged from jack setter at Betty B Coal to a variety of different positions including section Forman to head of maintenance where he ended his career with Alpha Natural Resources.  He was an exemplary employee and well respected by his peers.

CB was also one of the founding members of Sandy Ridge Fire Department and Sandy Ridge Rescue Squad. During his tenure he enjoyed serving his community.  He was the first captain of Sandy Ridge Rescue Squad.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband and daddy, CB also loved fishing, woodworking, and restoration projects. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which CB shared with those who surrounded him.  CB was of Baptist faith.

CB was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Stacy Gibson, grandparents Booker and Martha Collins, Boyd and Monie Gibson and several special aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Surviving is his loving wife of 42 years, Debby; daughter Missi Phillips and husband George; grandchildren whom he adored Zoë Phillips and Eli Phillips; siblings Shirley Burke, Edith King (David), Jayne Salyers, and David Gibson (Amanda); a special brother-in-law whom he regarded as his brother Arnold and Juanita Mullins; multiple nieces and nephews; a special friend and former coworker Harold Lawson and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside Service will be conducted 1 P.M. Friday, March 12, 2021 in the Boggs Cemetery Pound, VA. with Pastor Lester Mullins officiating friends will serve as pallbearers. Please visit www.sturgillfuneral.com to sign guest register book online.
