NORTON, VA.                                 OCTOBER 3, 2021

Buddy Hubbard, 79, entered into the presence of the Lord, Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Norton Community Hospital.

Buddy was loved, not just liked.  His life has touched thousands of lives throughout the country.  He never met a stranger and if he did, they didn't stay that way long.  He was true to his roots.  A question was once asked, why he never tried to make it in gospel music, his response: "I started at the bottom, liked it and stayed there". He was very humble and consistent, always the same no matter where he was seen.  He is currently residing in heaven, awaiting for the rest of his family and friends to join him.  I'm sure the angels are saying, "That man sure can sing a country gospel song".

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Hubbard; mother, Carrie Hubbard; son, Billy Martin; grandparents, Pat and Savannah Wells.

Surviving are his wife of 48 wonderful years, Joyce Hubbard; sons, Shane Hubbard and wife Megan, Mike Martin and wife Evylena, Wayne Martin and Marty Lake; sister, Judith Davis; grandchildren, Averi Ellen Hubbard, Jessica Martin, Julie Martin and Hunter Lake; great-grandchildren, Donovan and Lucas Martin and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Buddy Hubbard will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel at Wise, VA with Pastor Roger Sloce and Pastor Donnie Hall officiating.  Burial will follow in Laurel Grove Cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 12:00 noon till time of services at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, at Sturgill Funeral Home Wise, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Food Bank of Wise County – P.O. Box 2977, Wise VA.
