Cassia Renee DuVal, 29, and her unborn daughter, Aspen, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020 in North Carolina.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Todd and Jackie DuVal of Coeburn.

Surviving are her parents, David Todd and Carolyn Sue DuVal of Wise; sister, Kelly DuVal Horner; step-sister, Amanda Clark and Glen Lane; brother, Nick Jones of Idaho; step-brother, Joseph Sexton; her mom, Melissa Jones of Appalachia, VA; nephew, Asher Horner; niece, Aurora Horner; several aunts, uncles and a host of close friends and other relatives.

Renee or "Poss" as dad called her, she was full of life, happy, energetic, outgoing and loved her daughter Aspen and family. She had a passion for her work place and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu family. Her love of the gym, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and competition showed her life and personality the best. She looked forward to being a great mom to Aspen and spoke of the many "firsts" she was looking forward too.

Funeral services for Cassia Renee DuVal will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Rick Branham officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Graveside committal services and burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 6, 2020 in the Greenwood Acres Cemetery in Coeburn, VA. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 A.M.
