Carrol Ray Dotson, 86, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at his home.

Carrol was born to the late Lee and Ada Dotson of Coeburn, Virginia.

He was a heavy equipment operator for VA Iron Coal and Coke for over 30 years. He loved his family dearly especially his wife, Sadie.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Dotson and Homer Dotson; two sisters, Ida Mae Dotson and Joyce Akers; and two children, Gary Dotson and Clarissa Boggs.

Carrol is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sadie Dotson; his children, Sherry Miller and husband Tony of Wise, Charles Dotson and wife Diana of Pound, Jess Dotson and wife Gabby of South Carolina; brother, Cline Dotson and wife Pat; four sisters, Laura Pruitt and husband Tom, Dorothy Gaskey, Brenda Dotson, and Lillian Osborne; Carrol's pride and joy were his nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Evening funeral services for Carrol Ray Dotson will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Monday, December 30, 2024 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with the Old Regular Baptist Ministers. Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. Monday, December 30, 2024 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Funeral services for Carrol will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Eddie Rose officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery.
