WISE, VA.                                    APRIL 1, 2023

Carolyn Robinson Ray, 73, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 31, 2023 surrounded by her family.

She was a breast cancer survivor and battled the disease for 23 years.  She finally won the battle when she cast off her earthly burdens and was clothed in her heavenly body.  She believed in her risen Savior Jesus Christ, had been baptized and attended Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church.  She was a lifelong resident of Wise, Virginia and had been a longtime employee of the Wise County School System.

Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Iven Ray; an infant daughter, Ginger, infant son, Kevin; her father, Calvin C. Robinson and mother, Fern G. Robinson; nephew, Todd Robinson; stepdaughter, Letha Ray Cross and brothers-in-law, Ronald Boggs and Jerry Marshall.

Surviving are her sons, Joey Carico, Wes Carico (Tracye) and one daughter, Cinnamon Ray Swires (Chris); stepson, Brian Ray; granddaughter, Whitney Menchaca; grandsons, Christopher and Charlie Swires; one great-grandchild, Lily Menchaca; her brother, Troy Robinson (Mary); sisters, Chris Marshall, Susan Jones (Bob) and Melieta Boggs; nieces and nephews, Dennis Robinson, Kenny Jones, Brandy Hillard, Stephen Jones and Blake Robinson; also surviving her are numerous young people who called her "Nanny" or "Mom" and she loved them like they were her own.

Visitation for Carolyn Ray will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. at Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA

Funeral services for Carolyn Ray will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at the Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church 5227 Pole Bridge Road Wise, VA 24293 with Rev. Mike Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinson Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family members. Family will receive friends from 12:00 noon till time of services at 2:00 P.M. at the church.
