Carol Collins, 90, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026.

A long-time employee of Payless in Wise, she will be remembered for her great work ethic and always ensuring that her job was done well.

She was an avid seamstress who loved to crochet items such as doilies, placemats and quilts. Another love of her life was flea marketing. She enjoyed working the market with her husband every week and truly enjoyed the culture of being around people and closing the deal. She loved her fur babies, Sugar, Honey and a three-legged dog that took up with her that she named Baby.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Rocky Hopkins and Anthony Hopkins; and daughter, Theresa Hopkins.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth L. Collins; her daughters, Tammy and Pamela (Jeff) Counts; stepsons, Kenneth, Kedrick and Larry Collins; grandchildren, Joseph, Jessica, and Jordan; a great-grandson, JJ; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to say thank you to the nurses, CNA's and other professionals at Heritage Hall of Wise for caring for Carol throughout the last several years.

Funeral services for Carol Collins will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Rev. Raymond Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. till time of services at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
