Carnie Sexton, 89, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip & Maude Collins Sexton; wife, Mary Alice Castle Sexton; son, Denny Sexton; daughter, Sharon Renee Sexton Bolling; Grandson, Jonathan Sexton; great granddaughter, Sophia Grace Sexton; two brothers, Harold Sexton and Pete Sexton; two sisters, Drucilla Gibson and Stella Collins.

He was a retired employee of Clinchfield Coal Company, member of the UMWA.

Surviving is three sons, Roger (Reginia) Sexton, Lester Sexton, and Lee Sexton; a daughter, Tammie (Kenneth) Winston; seven grandchildren, Christie Sexton; Wade Compton; Kaylee Sexton Powers; Isaiah Sexton; Cole Compton; Justin Sexton; and Jeremy Sexton; nine great grandchildren, Chloe, Riley, Shane, Katlyn, Brinleigh, Neal, Grayson, Riley Reagan, Danielle, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn, Va. Funeral Services will follow in the chapel with Danny Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Sexton Cemetery Stone Mountain Road Coeburn, Va.
