Obituary

Lebanon, Virginia                                                  June 26, 2024

Bobby Harold Marshall departed this life on earth June 25, 2024, making his stay here 85 years, 2 months and 17 days. Brother Bob was born to William J.B. and Emma Marshall on Sandy Ridge Virginia. He was married to his first wife Anita Hubbard on August 3rd, 1957, and to this union was born 3 children 1 son William Harold who preceded him in death on April 25, 2002, and 2 daughters Cheryl Lynne and Deborah Ann. He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers Phillip, Darvin, Wilburn and Uriel and 2 sisters Yvonne Ayers and Velma Langley he is survived by his sister and sole survivor of this immediate family Franja Marshall Rose and husband Nick Rose. Franja who stayed by his side and cared for him during his last days on earth loved and cherished her brother and will miss him the rest of her life. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and a host of friends.

Brother Bob was married to his 2nd wife Bernice Waugh on September 6, 2003, who passed away September 3, 2023. They enjoyed travelling to different churches and were both baptized into the fellowship of the Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church on October 31, 2010. Brother Bob was ordained as a deacon and served in this capacity for many years. He went with the help of Sister Bernice many times when he was not physically able. He once volunteered to serve at the Miller view Primitive Church as a borrowed Deacon knowing that his health was failing he still pressed on as the scripture says " For they that have used the office of a Deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus" There is a special bond between a pastor of a church and the deacons that goes beyond simple brotherhood or friendship, I was blessed to share this bond with brother Bob and enjoyed many wonderful conversations in his home mostly about years gone by when we first met in the early 80s at the Sandy Ridge church.

Brother Bob's faith in the lord by his Grace made him who he was even though he was many things to many people: a son a father a grandfather a great grandfather a brother and a friend above all he was a child of God and it is this relationship that gives us hope that one day his heavenly father will call this old house of clay from the power of the grave to reunite with the soul where it will be changed forever to be fashioned like Jesus's most glorified body. Where there will be no sorrow no sickness no pain where we will live eternally with the saints and angels and most of all with Jesus our Lord and Savior. Written by Elder Bill Campbell
