Billy Wayne Salyer, 68, proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at his home with his family and friends at his bedside in Coeburn, VA.

Wayne was a 1974 graduate of Coeburn High School. He worked subcontracted work for Verizon through Hunsaker Electric, Penn Line, Mastec, S&N, and Nichols Construction.

He was a proud member of the Banner Revival Center Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, TL and Nancy Salyer, his father, and mother-in-law, Cecil, and Cora Hoback.

Surviving is his wife of almost 50 years Sandy Salyer, son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Amanda Salyer of Big Stone Gap, VA. twin grandsons, Alex and Luke Salyer of Big Stone Gap, VA., brothers, RC Salyer of Norton, VA., Jeff Salyer (Martha Hale) of Coeburn, VA., sisters, Irene (Bobby) Hoback of Coeburn, VA., Carol Salyer (Bobby McFall) of Knoxville, TN., Lynn (Steve) Collins of Wise, VA., and his loving fur baby, Marlee Grace; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. We want to give special thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care of Virginia.

The family will receive friends 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn. Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Rev. R.L. Crawford and Minister Gary Jackson officiating. Graveside Service will be conducted 11 A.M. Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Greenwood Acres Cemetery Coeburn, VA.
