Billy Gene Hughes, 90, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in the Holston Valley Medical Center Kingsport, Tennessee. He was a former employee of the Appalachian Power and was a Veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed & Martha Hughes; his wife, Faye Marie Nixon Hughes.

Surviving is a son, Danny (Theresa) Hughes, two daughters, Melissa (Samuel) Trent and Melinda (Earl) Strouth; four grandchildren, Kayla (Robert) Carver, Hunter (Julia) Strouth, Tyler Trent and Ryan Hughes; two great grandchildren, Gwendolyn Carver and Izetta Strouth; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 2 P.M. on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Temple Hill Memorial Park Castlewood, Virginia. Friends will meet at the cemetery.
