NORTON, VA.                                                JUNE 10, 2024

Betty Mullins Gardner, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Norton Community Hospital in Norton, VA with her son and grandson by her bedside as she went to be with the Lord.

She worked at The Wise Hospital and Norton Community Hospital combined for more than 25 years.

She was a born again Christian that relied heavily upon her faith after the love of her life, Yogi, was taken away from her after more than 50 years of marriage.

She enjoyed going to church and singing in the church group, where she was in for many years until she wasn't able anymore. She enjoyed cleaning house, cooking and taking care of her family. She had a beautiful heart and soul and will be missed greatly.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Yogi" Gardner; her parents, Merdia and Bessie Mullins; sisters, Sue Cantrell (Demos) and Rebel Boggs (Letcher); brothers, Ernest Mullins (Carroll), Kayo Mullins (Garnet), and Trent Mullins (Wilma); and brother-in-law, Jimmy "Big Yogi" Gardner.

Surviving are her son, Tyrone Gardner and wife Tammy; grandson, Ryan Gardner; great-granddaughter, Presleigh Gardner; brother, Bennie Mullins and wife Jewell; brother and sister-in-law's, Charles and Norma Gardner and WP and Sue Gardner; special friends, Teresa and Danny Holt; several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Betty Gardner will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Mike Hunsucker and Rev. Randy Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardner Family Cemetery in Norton, VA. Family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. till time of services at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
