Bertha Gaye Rutherford Turner, 78, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Lee Health and Rehab in Pennington Gap, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ballard James Rutherford; her mother, Lou Etta Long Rutherford; her husband, David Anthony Turner; six brothers, Howard Maggard, Leon Rutherford, E.J. Rutherford, Everett Rutherford, David Rutherford, and William Herbert Rutherford; sister, Artemis Rutherford; sister-in-law, Tina Rutherford; and brother-in-law, Star Wood.

Surviving are her sisters, Stella Wood, Rosa South and husband Fred, Linda Sherfey and husband Gary, and Sarah Cross; brothers, Gerald Rutherford and wife Treva and Harold Rutherford; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Rutherford, Barbara Rutherford, Juanita Rutherford and Evelyn Darlene Rutherford; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A special thanks to Kingston Center at Duffield, VA and Lee Health and Rehab in Pennington Gap, VA for taking care of Bertie during her time of need.

Family and friends will meet at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA to go to the cemetery in procession. Graveside services will follow in the Dewey Memorial Cemetery in Pound, VA with Pastor Dennis Burnette officiating.
