WISE, VA                                              JANUARY 10, 2025

Banner C. Cress, 81, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.

He was a born again Christian. He held true to the values of what being a Christian truly means. His witness for Christ was not only the testimony of what he confessed, by also the testimony of how he lived his life after he was saved.

Banner was a member and a Deacon at Glamorgan Chapel.

He was a retired employee of Wise County Christian School.

Banner was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, he selflessly served in the Vietnam War. His service and sacrifice to our country will never be forgotten.

Banner was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen and their children, Janell and Allen; his second wife, Billie Cress; his parents, Habern Cress and Carrie Holbrook Cress; and his siblings, Carl Cress, Kenneth Cress, Don Cress, and Peggy Abernathy.

Surviving are step-son, Kirt W. Dale; grandchildren, McKinley Dale and Isaac Dale; sister, Charlotte Collins; two brothers, Larry Cress and Billy Ray Cress and wife Debbie; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Banner C. Cress will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 12, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Greg Sergent and Pastor Jeff Sams officiating. Military Rites will be held at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. till time of services at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 12, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
