APPALACHIA, VA                                                                        SEPTEMBER 2, 2025

In loving memory of Ann Blackburn, 92, our cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025 with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Appalachia, VA. She lived a long and wonderful life filled with love and devotion to her family.

Ann retired from Wise County Sheriff's Department where she was the head dispatcher for many years as she helped start the 911 system. She worked for Wise County Treasurers Office, Payless supermarket, and Norton Floral.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James Melvin Tiller and Hester Flanary Tiller; and her loving husband of 66 years, Elbert M. Blackburn Jr.

She is survived by her two children, Deborah Blackburn Hopkins of Wise and James Blackburn and wife Bertha of Wise; four grandchildren, who will carry her memory in their hearts always and forever, Tiffany Smith and husband Jimmy, Melondie Owens and husband Brian, James Blackburn Jr and girlfriend Elizabeth Sanders, and Jarrod Seth Blackburn; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Rich; brother, Bill Tiller of El Paso, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her legacy lives on in the lives of those She loved so deeply.

Family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. till 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA. Services will follow in the Glencoe Cemetery Mausoleum in Big Stone Gap, VA with John Tull officiating. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to PAWS of Southwest Virginia - P.O. Box 576, Coeburn, Virginia 24230.
