Obituary

WISE, VA                                                         MAY 19, 2026

Amanda Hope Day, 46, of Wise Virginia has gone home to be with the Lord and is currently touring her awesome heavenly home. She completed her mission here on earth on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Amanda is the daughter of the late Loretta Sturgill and Glen Allen Day.

Amanda was born and raised in Dunbar, Virginia surrounded by siblings, cousins and friends. She spent the majority of her adult years living in Wise, Virginia. She dedicated her life to loving the least of these in both human and animal form.

She served her community and those away from home as an RN. During her 25-year career, she worked at various hospitals and nursing facilities both locally and as a travel nurse. She genuinely loved her patients. Although Amanda had a deep love for people and the dozens of little animals she rescued throughout her life, her greatest love and achievement was being a Mom and was the foundation to everything she did.

Manda - Loved the outdoors, camping, and lazy days by the lake. She also loved laughing at silly videos, close family gatherings around the campfire, car rides with good tunes, and meteor showers.

She is survived by her beautiful daughter, Liberty Thacker of Wise, VA; her 5 sisters, Michelle, Faith, Suzanne, Mary and Al'lea; her 9 nieces and nephews, Sierra, Hailea, Sadie, Lanie, Addi, Zoe, Samuel, Kaleah, and her beloved baby nephew Simon; step-father, Paul Sturgill; step-siblings, Paul & Paula; Her extended family included a pack of furry family members, in addition to her own devoted pup Daisy, and her kitties, Tubby, Mavi, and Tigger.

Per her request, she wants everyone to know the cancer has been defeated and she is living it up in Heaven and is now Mom's new favorite. Nothing in life is more important than Jesus!

She was an amazing human being and to the people who knew her, our lives are better because she existed and we thank God for her life and light. Skininininnin, Sister. ❤️
