Bobbie Aileen Rains Salyer, 97, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 24th, 2021.

Aileen spent her entire life in Wise, Va. where she attended Wise High School and excelled as Captain of her Basketball Team and was Valedictorian of her class. She was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother. Aileen was a devoted homemaker.  Her hobbies included Reading, Watching Jeopardy and The Atlanta Braves Baseball.

Aileen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Jessie James Salyer, Sr; sons, Jessie James "Jimmy" Salyer, Jr. and Robert Allen Salyer; her parents, Isaac Allen and Myrtle Lee Rains; as well as several brothers and sisters

Aileen is survived by her loving daughter, Diane Begley and husband Bob; Grandchildren, Kevin Begley and fiancée Brandy, Justin Salyer and fiancée Hannah, Cristy McNutt and husband Rowdy and Matt Laney and wife Beth; Great-Grandchildren, Lucas Salyer, Brooke Salyer, Laura Hall and husband David, Jase Laney and Blake Laney; Great-Great- Grandchildren, Ezra, Amelia and Noah Hall; Sisters, Dorothy "Tootsie" Bolling, and Jean Wheatley; Brother, Carl Rains; Special Niece, Janet Lee Robinson; Special Nephew, Randall Rains and wife Theresa and Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services for Aileen Salyer will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Larry Tolley officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:30 PM till time of services at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
